The start of

Transformed Publishing

God gave me an idea for a book four years before it was published.  After completing a quarter of the book, I abruptly stopped writing because I had no idea what to do once I was done writing the book.

I was inspired to resume working on the book in March 2019.  I submitted a partial manuscript to a publisher the same month.  It was approved.  I worked diligently and completed the manuscript in May 2019.  The publishing package fee was $5,000.  I paid it in full.  I was later given a release date of November 2019.

Yes, I know what you are thinking.  I paid too much and had to wait too long.  I had great anticipation and excitement, but little knowledge about publishing.

I was to earn 20% royalties from the sale of my book.  I wrongly assumed that was 20% of the retail price.  After I received myfirst Royalty Report, in July 2020, (yes 8 months later), I saw that 20% equated to 57 CENTS per book.  At that rate, I would have to sell 8,772 books to recoup my initial $5,000 cost.

Why 57 CENTS, you ask?  Because the contract said, "Twenty percent (20%) of revenues received by the Publisher"; which I WRONGLY assumed would be 20% of the retail price.  So after a 53% discount is given to wholesalers and the publisher pays all their expenses, I get 20% of what is left over.

After doing some additional research, I decided to take my experience as a  $5,000 lesson and opened Transformed  Publishing, where authors will pay a fair upfront fee for publishing services andreceive  100% of THEIR royalties!
